Roasted Garlic Recipe
Roasted Garlic Recipe transforms whole garlic bulbs by slowly baking them in olive oil until soft and golden. The roasting mellows the raw pungency into a creamy texture ideal for spreading or mixing into dishes. This method involves peeling the bulbs just enough to expose the cloves, trimming the root end, then baking wrapped in foil at 400°F. The result is an aromatic, buttery garlic that can be served warm or stored for later use.
Ingredients
- 6 garlic bulbs
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 foot aluminum foil sheet
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°.
- Peel the outside layers of the garlic bulbs until the cloves are exposed but connected to the bulb.
- Next, slice about a ½” inch of the opposite end of the root end to expose the raw shelled garlic cloves.
- Drizzle the olive oil onto the center of a piece of aluminum foil and place the garlic bulb cut side down right onto the oil.
- Wrap the foil up to close and bake at 400° for about 30 to 35 minutes or until the garlic is golden brown and soft. Serve.
Notes
- You can prepare roasted garlic up to 3 days in advance and keep it refrigerated for up to 7 days.
- Reheat wrapped in foil at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes to enjoy it warm and softened.
- For a similar flavor, garlic confit can be made by cooking cloves submerged in olive oil on low heat until golden and tender.
- Increase roasting time by 20 to 25 minutes when using elephant garlic bulbs due to their larger size.
