Salmon Teriyaki
Salmon Teriyaki features a pan-seared fillet glazed with a homemade teriyaki sauce made from soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. The salmon is cooked skin-side down until crispy, then covered to finish cooking through, resulting in a tender interior with a flavorful glaze. Sesame seeds are sprinkled on top for a nutty garnish, providing a simple and tasty main dish suitable for serving with steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. salmon fillet
- 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
- white sesame seed for garnishing
- black sesame seed for garnishing
Teriyaki Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce or Tamari
- 1/2 cup mirin
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients for the Teriyaki Sauce to a saucepan and simmer over low heat. Once the sauce thickens, remove it from the heat and let it cool.
- Heat a pan or skillet over low to medium heat. Add a bit of oil and pan-sear the salmon, skin-side down, until the bottom is crispy. Cover the pan to ensure the salmon cooks through.
- Remove the salmon from the heat, drizzle with teriyaki sauce, and garnish with sesame seeds. Serve immediately with steamed rice.
