Sangria with Vodka (made in the bottle!)
This sangria combines white wine, vodka, triple sec, and fresh fruit juice and slices, prepared directly in a wine bottle. The fruit is cut into small pieces to fit inside the bottle neck. The bottle is shaken to mix the ingredients, then chilled or served immediately with sparkling water poured over ice in the glass. The method keeps carbonation separate and prevents soggy fruit from quick over-soaking.
Ingredients
- ½ bottle white wine I used Sauvignon Blanc
- ½ orange juiced, large
- ½ cup vodka
- ¼ cup triple sec
- ½ apple thinly sliced
- ¼ orange thinly sliced
- 1 can sparkling water I used Tangerine La Croix
Instructions
- First, dice the apple and thinly slice the orange. You'll need the pieces small enough to be able to fit through the neck of the wine bottle.
- Add the fruit, vodka, triple sec, and orange juice to the half empty wine bottle (If you prefer to make this in a large pitcher, add all the ingredients and mix).
- Add the cap to the wine bottle and shake. Note: if it’s a corked bottle, just ensure the cork is fastened tightly before shaking.
- Serve immediately or chill your sangria for 2-4 hours.
- Pour over ice and top each glass with 3-4oz of sparkling water. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and fruit. ENJOY!
Notes
- Do not add sparkling water to the wine bottle to prevent overflow and loss of carbonation.
- Shake the bottle gently only if the cap or cork is securely fastened to avoid spills.
- Store leftover sangria in the bottle with the cap on tightly and refrigerate up to three days.
- Avoid long storage to prevent fruit from getting too soggy.
