Sausage and Apple Breakfast Strata
All your favorite breakfast staples come together in an easy to make Sausage and Apple Breakfast Strata. Perfect for breakfast or brunch and it can even be made the night before.
Ingredients
- 6 English Muffin halved
- 1 pound maple sausage ground
- 1 medium sweet onion diced
- 2 medium apple cored and diced
- 8 whole sage minced, leaves
- 8 large egg
- 2 cups half and half
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup provolone cheese shredded
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese shredded
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish. Line the bottom of the dish with English muffin halves, cutting them as needed to fit.
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, cook the ground sausage with the onion until sausage is brown. Add in diced apple and sage and cook another 3-5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, salt, and pepper. Stir in shredded cheeses.
- Stir sausage mixture into egg mixture and pour over English muffins. ***At this point you can cover the dish and refrigerate it overnight.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until set.
Notes
- This recipe can easily be made ahead the night before and store in the refrigerator. Simply follow all instructions and compile the entire recipe. Instead of baking, cover the dish with plastic wrap, overnight, and bake it in the morning as directed.
