Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 garlic thinly sliced, cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon salt sea salt
  • black pepper freshly ground
  • lemon for squeezing, wedge
  • red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the broccoli, garlic, salt, and several grinds of pepper and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons water, cover, and cook until the broccoli is tender, 2 to 4 more minutes.
  2. Turn off the heat. Squeeze with lemon juice and sprinkle with red pepper flakes, if using. Season to taste with more salt and pepper.
