Sauteed Green Beans

These Sauteed Green Beans are simple to make, and take only minutes to prepare!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans washed and trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut green beans into 1" pieces.
  2. Heat olive oil in a medium skillet. Add beans and broth and cook over medium heat 10-14 minutes or until the broth is evaporated or until beans are tender.
  3. Add garlic and chili flakes and cook 1 minute more.
  4. Season with salt & pepper to taste and serve.

Notes

  • To trim fresh green beans, wash and pat dry. Line them up on a cutting board, exposing the knobby ends. Use a sharp knife to cut those pieces off.
  • Do not overcook the beans, they're best with a tender-crisp texture.
  • Fresh garlic can burn, it's best added to this recipe during the last couple of minutes.
  • Leftover green beans will last in the fridge for 5-7 days.
  • Sauteed green beans can also be frozen in a zippered bag with the date written on it. They should last about a month in the freezer. The flavor will be great but the texture will soften.
