Ingredients
- 1 pound green beans washed and trimmed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ¼ cup chicken broth
- 1 clove garlic minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cut green beans into 1" pieces.
- Heat olive oil in a medium skillet. Add beans and broth and cook over medium heat 10-14 minutes or until the broth is evaporated or until beans are tender.
- Add garlic and chili flakes and cook 1 minute more.
- Season with salt & pepper to taste and serve.
Notes
- To trim fresh green beans, wash and pat dry. Line them up on a cutting board, exposing the knobby ends. Use a sharp knife to cut those pieces off.
- Do not overcook the beans, they're best with a tender-crisp texture.
- Fresh garlic can burn, it's best added to this recipe during the last couple of minutes.
- Leftover green beans will last in the fridge for 5-7 days.
- Sauteed green beans can also be frozen in a zippered bag with the date written on it. They should last about a month in the freezer. The flavor will be great but the texture will soften.
