Seared Sesame Tuna Bites - A Quick Canapé

These Seared Sesame Tuna Bites are so simple, so delicious and so beautiful. If you need a party nibble then these are the perfect quick canapé.

Ingredients

You can change the measurement from US to metric at the bottom of this list
  • ⅔ cup sesame seeds (white, black or mixture of both)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 20 oz tuna steaks (usually this is 3-4 steaks about 1 inch thick)

Instructions

  1. Place sesame seeds on a plate. And mix together if using white and black.
  2. Pour the two oils together in a seperate plate.
  3. Pat the tuna dry and then dip it or brush it with the oil mixture.
  4. Transfer it to the sesame seeds and turn to give it an even coating on both sides.
  5. Place a fry pan over medium-high heat, and once it is smoking add the tuna steaks.
  6. Cook for 30 seconds on one side and flip and cook for a further 30 seconds.
  7. Remove from the pan and use a super sharp knife to cut the tuna into bite sized chunks.
  8. Arrange on a serving platter with soy sauce to dip.
