Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds sirloin tip roast
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons steak seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons butter

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. Combine your garlic salt, black pepper, onion powder, and steak seasoning in a small bowl.
  3. Rub the seasoning all over the roast.
  4. Heat an oven-proof skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and sear the beef on both sides for 2-3 minutes until brown.
  5. Place the pan and roast in the oven for 1 hour 20 minutes.
  6. Turn the oven off and leave the roast in for an additional 40 minutes without opening the door.
  7. When the 40 minutes are up, remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • I like Montreal steak seasoning, but you can use your favorite blend.
  • When it comes to cooking meat, temperature is super important. For a sirloin tip roast, you'll want to aim for an internal temperature of at least 135°F for medium-rare. Use a meat thermometer to make sure you've got it just right. Remember, undercooked meat is a food safety issue.
  • Once cooked, let your roast rest for at least 15 minutes before cutting into it. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
