Ingredients
- 2 pounds pork shoulder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons mustard powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup BBQ sauce divided
Instructions
- Mix all of the dry ingredients together and rub them on to the pork.
- Place pork into the slow cooker fat side up and pour ½ cup of BBQ sauce over it, using a brush to spread it over the meat.
- Place the lid on it and set it to Low for 8-10 hours or High for 5-6 hours. You’ll know the meat has finished cooking when it easily pulls apart with a fork.
- Once the pork has finished cooking remove it from the slow cooker and place on a cutting board. Dispose of any excess liquid in the slow cooker. Cut off any large bits of fat left on the pork and dispose of those as well.
- Use two forks to pull the pork apart.
- Once shredded add the pork back to the slow cooker along with the remaining ½ cup of BBQ sauce. Stir together and serve.
