Slow Cooker Cabbage and Ham
Slow Cooker Cabbage and Ham combines diced ham, sautéed onion and garlic, chopped green cabbage, and chicken broth cooked slowly until the cabbage is tender and flavors meld. The result is a savory, aromatic dish with soft cabbage and crisped ham pieces, suitable as a hearty side or light main course.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups ham diced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion chopped, large
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 green cabbage chopped, head of large
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Add the oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ham and saute until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the pan and transfer it to the slow cooker.
- Add the onion and garlic to the same pan and saute for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent. Transfer to the slow cooker.
- Add chopped cabbage and broth to the slow cooker. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
- Cook on "HIGH" for two hours or until cabbage is perfectly tender. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve garnished with parsley.
