Ingredients

  • 32 ounces frozen hashbrowns shredded
  • 1 can cheddar cheese soup 15 ounces
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Put the hashbrowns in the bottom of the slow cooker. There is no need to thaw them.
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Spread the mixture over the hashbrowns.
  4. Cook the hashbrowns on high for 3-4 hours or until done to your liking.
  5. Open the lid 1 hour into cooking, and mix all ingredients well.
  6. The hashbrowns are done when golden brown and start to get crispy at the edges.

Notes

  • Don't skip stirring the hashbrowns after about an hour!
  • While you can absolutely go from freezer to slow cooker, letting your hashbrowns thaw can help them cook more evenly. Just spread them out on a kitchen towel before they hit the heat.
  • Consider lining your slow cooker with a liner or nonstick spray for an easier cleanup.
  • Change it up with other varieties of cheese, like Monterey Jack or Gouda, for a different twist.
