Slow Cooker Ribs Recipe
The Slow Cooker Ribs Recipe invites tender baby back rib racks rubbed with a flavorful dry spice mix, slow-cooked until soft, then glazed with BBQ sauce and briefly broiled to caramelize the surface. The method produces ribs with a balance of smoky, spicy dry rub flavor and sticky, rich BBQ sauce glaze. This approach yields fall-off-the-bone texture with a crispy outer layer from the final broil, suitable for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rib dry rub , recipe below
- 2 baby back ribs whole racks
- 2 cups BBQ sauce , (recipe below or store-bought)
Instructions
- Rub the dry rub all over the front and back of the ribs.
- Cook on low for 7-8 hours (I do 7) or high for 4 hours.
- While the ribs are cooking make your bbq sauce.
- Remove from the slow cooker, place racks onto baking sheet, brush with bbq sauce and broil in your oven for 1-2 minutes until caramelized on the top rack then serve with additional bbq sauce.
Notes
- Remove the rib membrane before applying the dry rub to improve flavor penetration and texture.
- The homemade BBQ sauce simmers for 45 minutes for deeper flavor; store any leftovers refrigerated.
- Broiling the ribs after slow cooking caramelizes the sauce for added texture and enhances taste.
- Cooking times vary: low for 7-8 hours yields very tender ribs; high setting for 4 hours offers a faster option.
