Slow-Cooker Rice

I like to make Slow-Cooker Rice when I know I'll be using multiple stove burners at once, so it’s the one thing I don’t have to keep my eye on!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 1 tablespoon butter or cooking oil optional
  • 4 cups water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt plus more to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice in a fine-mesh sieve with cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Coat the bottom and sides of the slow cooker with butter or cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Place the rinsed rice into the slow cooker. Add the water and salt, then stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on high for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.
