Slow Cooker Shredded BBQ Chicken

This slow cooker shredded bbq chicken recipe is packed with flavor and super easy to make. It results in tender, fall-apart chicken that's perfect for sandwiches, wraps, tacos, salads and more.

Ingredients

  • 1.25-1.5 lb boneless skinless chicken breast
  • ½ medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • ¼ cup brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons molasses*
  • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons tamari, soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker.
  2. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
  3. Shred chicken, toss back in slow cooker and combine.
  4. Serve on burger buns with slaw. Drizzle extra sauce on if desired.

Notes

  • Don't have molasses? You can sub it for maple syrup or honey or just skip it all together!
