Smoothie Booster Packs
This recipe creates convenient frozen smoothie booster packs that combine leafy greens, oats, seeds, honey, and matcha powder. The ingredients are blended smooth, portioned into muffin cups, and frozen solid. When ready to use, one pack is blended with banana and almond milk for a nutrient-dense smoothie base. The mix of spinach (or kale), oats, chia, flaxseed, and hemp seeds adds fiber and healthy fats, while matcha powder gives a subtle green tea taste and energy boost. These packs simplify making consistent, well-balanced smoothies.
Ingredients
- 4 cups baby spinach or kale
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ¼ cup chia seeds
- ¼ cup ground flaxseed
- ¼ cup hemp seeds shelled
- ⅓ cup honey raw, local
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- water
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients on high until very smooth, adding just enough water to get the blender moving. Divide evenly into the 12 cups of a muffin tin and freeze flat until solid. Dip the muffin tin into hot water, then pop each of the packs out and store long term (up to 3 months) in a zip-top freezer bag.
- To use to make smoothies: Place one freezer pack, one banana, and 1 cup unsweetened almond milk in a blender (adding additional mix-ins and fruit as desired). Blend on high until smooth. Make one smoothie.
