Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M candies or more for extra color

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&M candies.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden, but the centers are still soft.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a chewier texture, make sure to not overbake the cookies. Remove them from the oven when they’re just starting to turn golden around the edges.
  • You can use any color of M&M's, or mix in seasonal colors for holidays (e.g., red and green for Christmas).
  • If you prefer a slightly less sweet version, reduce the amount of M&Ms or chocolate chips.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a thicker cookie, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
