Ingredients

  • 4 thick-cut slices sourdough bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk or plant-based milk
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • unsalted butter as needed
  • Fresh fruit for serving
  • maple syrup for serving

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a shallow dish. Whisk until smooth and well-blended.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt enough butter to coat the pan.
  3. Dip each slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture, allowing each side to soak for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on how soft you want the French toast to be.
  4. Add the soaked bread slices to the pan and cook undisturbed for about 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Add more butter to the skillet during cooking if needed.
  5. Serve warm, topped with maple syrup and fresh fruit.
