Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour plus more as needed
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk plus more as needed
  • 6 to 8 ounces sourdough starter
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted and cooled

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, then whisk in the sourdough starter until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and melted butter, stirring until you achieve a batter with the consistency of pancake batter. You can adjust with additional flour or milk if necessary.
  4. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it if needed.
  5. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, the waffles should be golden brown and crisp.
  6. Add your favorite toppings. I go with powdered sugar when I feel decadent or Greek yogurt and blackberries to feel less guilty.
