Spanish Rice

This easy homemade Spanish Rice recipe takes less than 30 minutes to make and a few simple ingredients. The rice is delicious with an authentic flavor. It's great as is or best served with chicken, beef or anything!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white rice
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 yellow onion chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 10 ounces (300 grams) fresh tomatoes cut into quarters
  • 4 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Rinse and drain the rice; set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in the saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and rice, stirring continuously until aromatic and lightly browned.
  3. Add boiling water, chicken bouillon powder, sugar, salt, and ground white pepper, and stir well. Next, evenly place the tomatoes and bay leaves on top of the rice.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the rice with the lid on for 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
  5. Remove the bay leaves and stir lightly to loosen the rice. Serve immediately.
