Spiced Capsicum Martini
If you are a fan of the bloody mary and a salty margarita then this is the cocktail for you! The capsicum is muddled with lime, tomatoes and chilli to give you a savoury 'salad' juice. A splash of tabasco and some sugar syrup balance everything out into a spicy sweet peppery martini. Oh and some vodka!

Ingredients
- freshly ground black pepper
- coarse salt
- 2 limes
- 1 red capsicum
- 2 cherry tomatoes
- 1 cm sized chunk of green jalapeño chilli (more or less depending on your spice tolerance)
- ½ garlic clove
- 80 ml /1/3 cup vodka (I love to use smoked vodka)
- 1 teaspoon simple sugar syrup (more if you like the real sweet and salt hit. Or omit completely)
- 1 Dash Tabasco
- additional salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions
- Grind the pepper into a small dish (one that will fit the rim of your martini glass) and add in an equal amount of salt.
- Cut one of the limes into quarters and run the lime around the rim of 2 martini glasses.
- Dip the edges in the salt and pepper mix and set aside.
- Chop the capsicum into small chunks and add it to a cocktail shaker with the cherry tomatoes, chilli pepper, juice of the remaining lime.
- Muddle it with a muddler (or the end of a rolling pin) until the capsicums are soft and mushed.
- Add in the half garlic clove.
- Pour in the the vodka, sugar syrup, tabasco and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Add plenty of ice and shake well. By well I mean shake like a crazy drunk version of Tom Cruise in cocktail. You want to shake this for at least a minute to really break down the ice and get every last bit of flavour out of the veg.
- Strain the martini into your prepared glasses.
- Then put on some Starship and get your cheese going (See above ;-) )
