Spicy cranberry mango sauce
This spicy cranberry mango sauce blends fresh cranberries and diced mango with hot peppers, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and passion fruit juice. Cooked down to a thick consistency, it balances tart, sweet, and heat flavors. The sauce is finished with fresh cilantro for a bright herbal note, suitable as a condiment or glaze.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Cranberry fresh whole
- 2 Mango peeled and diced, small or 1 large
- 1-2 hot pepper seeds and membranes removed, diced, Red Fresno and Habanero varieties
- 3/4 cup brown sugar adjust to taste
- 1-2 cinnamon sticks
- ½ cup passion fruit juice or orange juice
- 2 tbs cilantro finely chopped
Instructions
- Combine the cranberries, diced mango, diced hot peppers, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and fruit juice in a small pot.
- Cook over medium high heat until the sauce starts to boil. Cook on high for 5 minutes.
- Reduce the heat and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Let the sauce cool down. Serve with the freshly chopped cilantro.
