Spicy Mezcal Paloma

The Spicy Mezcal Paloma is a cocktail combining freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with smoky mezcal, triple sec, muddled jalapeños, and lime juice. It is finished with club soda for light effervescence and served over ice, offering a balanced blend of citrus brightness, gentle heat from jalapeños, and earthy smoky notes from mezcal.

Ingredients

  • 3 grapefruit juice roughly 4-6oz of juice per fruit, from large grapefruits
  • 6 oz mezcal
  • 3 oz triple sec
  • 2 lime
  • 2 jalapeños
  • 12 oz club soda Pamplemousse La Croix

Instructions

  1. Using a juice reamer, squeeze the juice from 3 large grapefruits and set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add diced jalapeños and the juice from one lime. Spend 2-3 minutes muddling the jalapeños into the lime juice.
  3. Then, strain the seeds from the juice.
  4. Add mezcal, triple sec, the juice from the second lime, and all of the grapefruit juice. Shake together.
  5. If you’d like, rim a glass with fresh lime and garnish with salt or sugar before pouring the cocktails.
  6. Pour Paloma mixture over ice into cups. Top with club soda and serve with a grapefruit peel.
  7. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Using fresh grapefruit juice greatly improves the cocktail’s flavor compared to store-bought juice.
