Spicy Mezcal Paloma

Report
The Spicy Mezcal Paloma is a cocktail combining freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with smoky mezcal, triple sec, muddled jalapeños, and lime juice. It is finished with club soda for light effervescence and served over ice, offering a balanced blend of citrus brightness, gentle heat from jalapeños, and earthy smoky notes from mezcal.

Description

This cocktail begins with fresh-pressed juice from large grapefruits, delivering a vibrant and slightly bitter citrus base that complements the smokiness of mezcal. Jalapeños are muddled with lime juice to release their subtle heat before straining out seeds, ensuring a smooth spicy flavor without harsh bits. The mezcal and triple sec add complexity and a hint of sweetness to balance the tartness of grapefruit and lime.

Served over ice and topped with club soda, the drink gains a refreshing effervescence. A lime-rimmed glass and a grapefruit peel garnish add to the presentation and accentuate the citrus profile. The Spicy Mezcal Paloma fits well as a spirited refreshment for warm weather or gatherings.

The recipe notes emphasize the superiority of fresh grapefruit juice over store-bought options for the best flavor. Using freshly squeezed juice enhances the cocktail’s brightness and natural complexity significantly.
