Spinach Smoothie
This spinach smoothie blends fresh spinach with fruit like banana and pineapple, combined with almond milk and protein sources such as protein powder or Greek yogurt. The addition of flax seeds adds texture and nutritional benefits. The result is a creamy, mildly sweet green smoothie that provides a refreshing way to incorporate vegetables and protein into a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond milk or other milk (see note 1)
- 1 small banana
- 1 cup pineapple about 4 ounces, see note 2, frozen chunks
- 2 cups spinach see note 3, fresh
- 1 coop protein powder or ½ cup Greek yogurt (see note 4)
- 2 tablespoons flax seeds (see note 5)
Instructions
- In the bottom of a blender, add almond milk, banana, pineapple, spinach, protein powder or Greek yogurt, and flax seeds. Blend until smooth.
Notes
- Use any milk of choice including dairy or plant-based options like almond, cashew, oat, or soy milk.
- If using fresh pineapple, add about half a cup of ice to keep the smoothie chilled.
- Frozen spinach may be substituted for fresh to intensify the flavor; thaw before blending.
- Choose vanilla protein powder or substitute with half a cup of Greek yogurt as protein sources.
- Flax seeds or chia seeds can be used for added fiber, protein, and healthy fats.
- Store leftover smoothie in the refrigerator for up to four days; shake or stir well before drinking due to natural separation.
