Ingredients
For the Steak Salad
- 8 ounces cooked steak sliced, see note
- 10 ounces tomatoes sliced
- 4 cups salad greens
- 1 purple onion sliced
- ⅓ cup blue cheese or gorgonzola cheese, see note
For the Balsamic Dressing
- ½ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced, about 1 clove
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
Instructions
For the Balsamic Dressing:
- Combine all ingredients in a mason jar. Shake well to combine.

For the Steak Salad:
- Layer the sliced steak, tomatoes, and onions over the salad greens.
- Crumble the cheese over the top.
- Top with half of the salad dressing, serve the rest on the side.
Notes
- Eight ounces of steak is about 2 small steaks or 1 large steak. I use a variety of cuts for this recipe. New York strips are our favorite.
- Gorgonzola is a great substitution for blue cheese, and the amount of cheese is flexible.
- Let the dressing rest while you assemble the salad so it has a bit of time to build flavor. I can literally just drink this dressing, it's so good!
- I'll usually serve some sort of garlic bread on the side with this salad for an easy side.
