Steak Salad

Steak Salad is always a favorite main dish salad. The tender steak over a bed of greens and tangy blue cheese is a winner!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds beef sirloin steak
  • 2 teaspoons Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 16 ounces butter lettuce or your favorite salad blend
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes sliced
  • 2 avocados sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • ½ cup blue cheese crumbled
  • blue cheese dressing for serving

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle steaks with Montreal Steak Seasoning and let them come to room temperature on the counter. Heat a grill or cast iron skillet to medium high heat. (If using a cast iron skillet, add a few tablespoons of neutral oil to the pan before heating).
  2. Place steaks on the grill and cook for approximately 4 to 6 minutes per side or to desired doneness. I like it cooked medium, 140℉-150℉, so it's not too dry. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and then slice into thin strips.
  3. Assemble the salad by placing the lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, bell pepper, and blue cheese in a large bowl. Top with steak slices. You can also arrange the salads on individual plates.
  4. Top with blue cheese dressing.

Notes

  • Nutrition does not include salad dressing.
  • The steak will cook more evenly if you allow it to come to room temperature before cooking.
