Steak salad with blue cheese, avocado and basil balsamic dressing
This steak salad combines tender grilled steak strips with creamy avocado, sharp blue cheese, and mixed greens, all tossed in a basil-infused balsamic dressing. The dressing’s balance of tangy vinegar, fresh basil, and garlic complements the rich flavors of the steak and blue cheese. Red onion adds a mild pungency to the salad, and the combination creates a hearty, flavorful dish suitable as a main course salad or a satisfying lunch.
Ingredients
For the basil balsamic dressing:
- 2-3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar adjust based on your preference
- 3-4 tablespoons olive oil adjust based on your preference
- 1 garlic crushed, clove
- 1 tablespoon basil chopped
- black pepper to taste
- salt to taste
For the steak salad:
- 4 cups salad greens mixed
- 1 avocado diced or sliced
- ¼ cup red onion or 1/2 red onion - sliced, pickled
- 1 steak cooked to your preference - sliced into strips, medium to large, grilled or seared
- 4 ounces blue cheese can also use feta/goat cheese/queso fresco, crumbled
- basil a few extra, chopped leaves
Instructions
- To prepare the basil balsamic salad dressing, place the ingredients in a small bowl and whisk lightly. Can be made ahead of time, refrigerate until ready to use.
- To prepare the salad, place the salad greens in a salad bowl, add the diced avocado, red onion slices, steak strips, crumbled blue cheese, and the chopped basil.
- Sprinkle the balsamic dressing over the salad, toss and serve immediately.
