Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • Toppings of choice

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Place the water and salt in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Add the steel cut oats, reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook until the water is absorbed, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping along the bottom and sides of the pan to prevent sticking.
  3. Remove from heat and let stand covered for a couple of minutes. Enjoy with your favorite toppings. Yields about 3 cups.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container. They will last about 5 days in the fridge.
  • Make Ahead Tips: You can make the oatmeal on the stovetop in advance. To reheat, simply add a splash of milk or water and microwave for 1 minute.
  • Substitutes: For best results, follow the recipe as is. However you can add up to 1 cup of milk to the water for a more creamy consistency.
  • * Please note the nutrition label does not include any toppings.
