Ingredients
- 3 cups water
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- Toppings of choice
Instructions
- Place the water and salt in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat.
- Add the steel cut oats, reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook until the water is absorbed, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping along the bottom and sides of the pan to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat and let stand covered for a couple of minutes. Enjoy with your favorite toppings. Yields about 3 cups.

- Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container. They will last about 5 days in the fridge.
- Make Ahead Tips: You can make the oatmeal on the stovetop in advance. To reheat, simply add a splash of milk or water and microwave for 1 minute.
- Substitutes: For best results, follow the recipe as is. However you can add up to 1 cup of milk to the water for a more creamy consistency.
