Strawberry Matcha Latte
Strawberry Matcha Latte combines the vibrant taste of matcha powder with fresh or sauced strawberries layered over milk and ice. The layered preparation results in a visually appealing, refreshing drink that highlights the earthy matcha and the bright sweetness of strawberry, ideal for a chilled treat or a lightly sweetened beverage.
Ingredients
- ¼ C strawberry sauce
OR:
- ¼ C strawberry finely diced into small pieces, fresh
- 1-2 tablespoon granulated sugar or to your taste; also dependent on how sweet the strawberries are
- ice
- ½ C milk or non-dairy alternative, of your choice
- ¼ C water about 175°F/80°C, hot
- 2 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
Instructions
Using strawberry sauce:
- Add the strawberry sauce to a serving glass.
OR:
Using fresh strawberries:
- Add finely diced fresh strawberry to a glass.
- Sprinkle sugar over the strawberry and lightly muddle, letting it macerate for about 5 minutes.
Assemble:
- Next, add some ice to the glass.
- Pour the milk over the ice (pour it over a spoon to ensure a clean layer).
- In a small jar, add the matcha powder and pour in the hot water.
- Use a whisk or electric frother until the matcha is incorporated and becomes frothy.
- Carefully pour the matcha over top of the milk (again, use a spoon to ensure clean layers).
- Stick in a straw, give it a stir and enjoy immediately.
