Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk of choice dairy free works great too
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries washed
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey to taste

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Place the strawberries into a blender. Use the puree button to turn them into liquid. Pour into a heavy saucepan and add the lemon juice.
  2. Cook the pureed strawberries on medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring often to prevent burning.
  3. You can add in the honey during the cooking process to your liking, this all depends on how sweet your strawberries are
  4. The puree is done when it thickens up and cooks down to almost a syrup. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  5. Pour the milk into two glasses. Mix in the cooled strawberry puree to taste. If desired, add on whipped cream and sprinkles, a straw and serve.
  6. Store the strawberry puree in the fridge in a sealed container for up to 5 days, or freeze in smaller portions to add to milk when ever you want!

Notes

  • Calories will depend on how much puree you put into the milk
  • If the kids don't think it's pink enough you can always stir in a drop of red food coloring! The color from natural strawberries isn't always as bold as artificial strawberry milk.
