Strawberry Sauce Recipe
This Strawberry Sauce Recipe creates a sweet, tangy sauce made from fresh sliced strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and zest, optionally enhanced with vanilla extract. The sauce is simmered until thickened, perfect as a topping for desserts, pancakes, or yogurt.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs strawberry rinsed, hulled and sliced, fresh
- 1 cup granulated sugar white
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
Instructions
Prepare the Berries:
- First, rinse, pat dry, and then hull and slice the berries. Please place them in a medium saucepan.
How to Make Strawberry Sauce:
- Next, add the sugar, lemon juice, and zest. Stir well to combine.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and boil, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 20-30 minutes or until thickened. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Cool to room temperature. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools and even more once refrigerated.
