Strawberry Sauce Recipe

This Strawberry Sauce Recipe creates a sweet, tangy sauce made from fresh sliced strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and zest, optionally enhanced with vanilla extract. The sauce is simmered until thickened, perfect as a topping for desserts, pancakes, or yogurt.

Description

The recipe begins with fresh, hulled, and sliced strawberries combined with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Heating the mixture over medium to low heat allows the sugar to dissolve and the strawberries to break down, releasing their juices which thicken into a sauce consistency.

The inclusion of lemon juice and zest adds brightness and balances the sweetness, while vanilla extract can be stirred in after cooking for a gentle warm note. The sauce thickens further as it cools and refrigerates, developing a rich texture.

This strawberry sauce is versatile for many uses, such as drizzling over ice cream, serving with breakfast items like pancakes or waffles, or spooning atop cakes and other desserts. Preparing it fresh ensures a vibrant, fresh berry flavor with a natural texture.

For storage or longer use, the original notes mention canning instructions, allowing this sauce to be preserved. Nutritional information is available per one cup serving size for those tracking intake.
