Stuffing Recipe

This Stuffing Recipe features a blend of sautéed onions, celery, and poultry seasoning mixed with dried bread cubes soaked in chicken broth. Baking the mixture yields a golden crust with a moist, flavorful interior seasoned with sage and fresh parsley, enhanced by dotting with butter before baking. It's a classic side dish that balances tender vegetables and seasoned bread, suitable to accompany poultry dinners or holiday meals. Properly dried bread cubes prevent sogginess and allow the broth to fully absorb, ensuring the right stuffing texture.

  • ½ tsp black pepper ground
  • 1 Tbsp parsley fresh

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet melt ½ c. butter. Add onion, celery, poultry seasoning and sage to skillet. Cover over medium-low heat until tender, about 10-12 minutes.

  6. Bake for 35 minutes. Remove from oven, uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes or until golden brown and set in the middle.

Notes

  • Use dried bread cubes to avoid soggy stuffing; toast fresh bread cubes at 300°F for about 10 minutes if needed.
  • Pre-cook onions and celery in butter to develop flavor and achieve tender texture.
  • Prepare the vegetable mixture up to a day ahead and refrigerate, but add broth and assemble just before baking for safety and best results.
