Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon milk
  • Colored sugar crystals
  • Hershey's Sugar Cookie Kisses

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour in the milk and mix until fully incorporated.
  6. Add the sugar crystals and carefully fold them into the dough.
  7. Use a cookie scoop to scoop the dough and roll it into a ball between your hands. Place it on the lined baking sheet. Continue rolling until all the dough is into balls.
  8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the edges are just beginning to brown.
  9. Press one Kiss into the top of each cookie immediately after removing them from the oven.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for five minutes, then transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure your butter is softened but not melted so the cookies spread just the right amount in the oven.
  • To ensure that all of your cookies are the same size, portion the dough out using a cookie scoop or a small ice cream scoop.
  • Don't over bake the cookies. Take them out when the edges start to brown, and the centers still look soft. They'll continue to cook on the hot baking sheet as they cool.
  • Press the Kisses into the cookies as soon as they come out of the oven.
  • Experiment with different Kisses. Switch up the Sugar Cookie Kisses with classic milk chocolate Kisses. Or try Peppermint Kisses, white chocolate, or caramel Kisses to add a fun twist to this classic recipe.
