Sugar cookies in air Fryer

These sugar cookies are made using an air fryer, giving them a soft texture with lightly browned edges. The dough includes butter, sugar, egg, and basic leavening agents, and once chilled, it's rolled out and cut into shapes. Decorating with sprinkles is optional before air frying at a low temperature. The result is a batch of classic sugar cookies with a tender crumb and subtle sweetness, convenient to prepare without using a conventional oven.

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup butter salted, 60 g
  • ½ cup granulated sugar 120 g
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 170 g
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Combine butter and sugar using a hand mixer or whisk in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add an egg and mix well. Stir in vanilla essence and mix again.
  3. Combine all the dry ingredients, i.e. all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda, with the wet ingredients.
  4. Make a soft dough. Refrigerate this dough for 15-12 minutes.
  5. Roll this dough into a big disc of around ¼ inch using a rolling pin. Cut out cookies with a cookie cutter in the shapes you like.
  6. Transfer them to the lined air fryer tray.
  7. Decorate them with sprinkles. Optional step.
  8. Air fry these sugar cookies in a preheated air fryer for about 8-10 minutes at 160°F.
  9. Turn off the air fryer when the edges of the cookies change to light brown or slightly red.
  10. Let them cool in the air fryer for another 5-10 minutes.
  11. And, tada, sugar cookies prepared in the air fryer are ready to serve!

Notes

  • Use butter softened at room temperature rather than melted to achieve the correct dough texture.
  • Chilling the dough before shaping helps maintain cookie shape during air frying.
  • Decorate with sprinkles before cooking if desired for added color and texture.
  • Allow cookies to cool in the air fryer after cooking to finish baking gently and avoid overbaking.
