Summer Punch

Summer Punch is a fruity beverage combining white wine, champagne, and fresh berries like blueberries, strawberries, and pears. The fruit is soaked in wine and sugar overnight to meld flavors before adding fresh pear slices and bubbly champagne just before serving for a refreshing and lightly sweet drink.

Ingredients

  • 750 mL white wine pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc, dry
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 11 ounces blueberries
  • 8 large strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 750 mL champagne Extra Dry
  • 2 bartlett pears cored and sliced

Instructions

  1. Pour the white wine into a large pitcher.
  2. Add the sugar, blueberries, and strawberries to the wine. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and let chill overnight, or at least 2 hours.
  3. Just before serving add the pears and champagne.

Notes

  • Chill the white wine and champagne ahead of mixing for better flavor and served temperature.
  • This punch is best served immediately over ice to maintain its refreshing quality.
  • Peeling the pears can create a colorful presentation if desired for special occasions.
