Swiss Bircher Muesli Recipe

Bircher Muesli is the original Swiss overnight oats with rolled oatmeal, fruits, and nuts. It was developed by a Swiss nutritionist over 100 years ago, and today it's one of the most popular breakfast foods in Central Europe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats rolled oats
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 4-6 Tablespoons honey
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice or Lime Juice
  • ½ large apple grated
  • ½ Teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • ⅓ cup yogurt
  • a few raisins optional
  • a few almonds
  • Fresh fruits *see Notes

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. The night before, place the oats and milk together in a container. Mix the content and place into the fridge.
  2. The next morning, add the honey, lemon juice, grated apple, cinnamon powder, yogurt, raisins, and almonds. Mix the whole content well.
  3. Cut your fruit into pieces, if it's not a small berry, and arrange on top of your Bircher muesli.
  4. Best enjoyed cooled.

Notes

  • Pick a fruit you like to add to your Bircher muesli I added strawberries to mine, but you can also add banana, blueberries, pears, peach whatever you like. Add as much as you like.
