Taco Lettuce Wraps (Easy & Healthy Recipe)
These lettuce wraps are a breeze to make and are filled with everything you love from tacos in every bite!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
- 1 onion finely chopped, medium
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- ½ cup water
- 1 iceberg lettuce base removed, head of
Toppings
- Mexican cheese shredded
- salsa fresh
- avocado diced
- cilantro chopped
- lime wedges
Instructions
Make the filling:
- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until it's begun to get soft and translucent. Add the ground meat, garlic, and taco seasoning.
- Continue to cook, breaking up the meat as it cooks, for about 5-7 minutes until it’s cooked through.
- Add the water and stir it into the meat to help deglaze the skillet. Turn off the heat, cover, and gather the remaining ingredients.
Assemble:
- Place 2 iceberg lettuce leaves on top of each other to form a sturdy base. Scoop some of the taco filling into the lettuce.
- Top each taco lettuce wrap with shredded cheese, salsa, avocado, and cilantro. Squeeze a lime wedge over the top (optional) and fold to close the wrap.
