Taco Seasoning (Better Than Store-Bought)
This homemade Taco Seasoning mixes chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, kosher salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. It provides a balanced blend of warm, smoky, and savory spices suitable for seasoning ground beef or other taco fillings.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin ground
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- red pepper flakes optional, or cayenne pepper, pinch
Instructions
- Mix all the spices together in a bowl. Use immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- You can multiply the batch to make more and store it for up to one year in an airtight container.
- Use about two tablespoons of this seasoning per pound of ground beef when cooking tacos.
- Onion powder is omitted intentionally, assuming fresh onions are used in recipes; add if preferred.
- For additional spice blends, consider trying the accompanying brisket dry rub recipe.
