Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 lean
  • 1 tsp garlic parsley salt
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 28 oz frozen tater tots

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a deep skillet set over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned, breaking it apart. Season with garlic parsley salt. 
  2. Add the chopped onion, and garlic to the same skillet. Cook on medium heat for about two to three minutes more until the veggies are softened.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for about a minute until fully incorporated. Add the milk, broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Continue to cook and whisk constantly until the sauce thickens, about two to three minutes.
  4. Transfer the ground beef mixture to a 9x13 inch casserole dish in an even layer. Top with two cups of cheese.
  5. Arrange the tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Top with the remaining cup of cheese and bake for 10 more minutes until golden brown. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving, then dig in and enjoy!
