Servings: 10 rice krispie treat cut-outs
Course: Dessert , Snacks
Cuisine: American , International

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 1 (16 oz) package mini marshmallows
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cooking spray
  • (heart-shaped) cookie cutter  optional, see notes
  • Sprinkles optional

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir until completely melted and well combined. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Coat a large spatula or spoon with cooking spray to prevent sticking (or coat your fingers with water) and press the mixture firmly into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan. Add sprinkles to the top if using.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool and set for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, use a cookie cutter to cut out rice krispie treats in the desired shape. For the leftover pieces, simple place into the cookie cutter to make more of the shape.
  6. Feel free to get creative and decorate the treats with icing, sprinkles, or chocolate drizzle for an extra special touch. Enjoy!

Notes

  • I used a heart shape cookie cutter when I made these for Valentine’s Day. You can use any cookie cutter you see fit for the occasion. Or simply opt to keep these Rice Krispie treats as bars.
