Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, gently knead together 2 pounds ground beef1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon onion powder. Be careful not to overwork the meat.
- Separate the meat into 4 qual portions. Form into 4 patties about 1/2 inch thick. Press your thumb down on the middle to give it a slight indent.
- Heat a large heavy skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Or, heat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat (400-450 degrees F). Make sure the grate is well oiled so the meat doesn't stick.
- Heat a large heavy skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook burgers for about 5 minutes per side for medium, 6 to 7 minutes per side for medium-well, and about 8 minutes per side for well-done. Ground beef in the United States needs to be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Let rest 5 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 145 degrees.

Notes
- To Toast Buns: Place the buns cut-side down in a skillet or on a hot grill for about 1-2 minutes until they’re golden brown. Watch them closely to avoid burning. You can brush them with oil or butter before placing them on the grill for an almost fried bread experience.
