Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ½ cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy with a stand up mixer or hand held mixer.
  3. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour, baking soda and baking powder.
  5. Then gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture.  Mix on a low speed until just combined.  Be careful not to over mix or the cookies will be tough or flat.
  6. Then gently stir in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts by hand until combined.
  7. Place tablespoons of the dough onto a baking sheet using a cookie scoop.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cookies are slightly golden brown around the edges and just set.
  9. Let the cookies set on the baking sheet for 5 minutes and then move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Then the cookies are ready to serve and enjoy!
