Tomatillo Salsa
Tomatillo Salsa blends fresh tomatillos, white onion, garlic, serrano chiles, and cilantro into a smooth, bright green sauce with a sharp tang from lime juice. The fresh ingredients are puréed together, creating a lively and zesty salsa commonly known as salsa verde. Seasoned with kosher or sea salt to taste, this salsa offers a balance of spicy, tart, and herbaceous flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 pound tomatillo papery husks removed, rinsed and halved
- 1 onion chopped, small, white
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 cilantro stems and leaves, medium bunch
- 1/4 cup lime juice 2-3 limes, freshly squeezed
- 2 serrano chile seeded and chopped
- kosher salt to taste, or sea salt
Instructions
- Place the tomatillos, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and chiles in a blender and blend until smooth. If you have a small blender or not a very powerful blender, you can do this in batches.
- Season with salt, to taste. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

- For a smoky flavor, roast tomatillos before blending.
- Store salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator; use within one week for best freshness.
