It's a great homemade seasoning to have on hand for Thanksgiving, but it's also convenient to use throughout the year. Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Store in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • This recipe makes 10 tablespoons of turkey seasoning. This is good for covering a 10-12 pound turkey. If you’re using this seasoning blend on a larger turkey, that’s between 20-24 pounds, make a double batch of the seasoning. To do this, simply click on the 2X button above. The ingredient amounts will automatically update to accommodate the new serving size.
  • I recommend using 1 tablespoon of seasoning per pound of turkey that you’d like to season.
  • This turkey rub recipe will stay good, stored in an airtight container in the pantry, for up to 6 months. After that the spice blend will not “go bad” but as spices sit longer, they begin to lose their flavor.
  • I recommend storing the seasoning mix in an 8 ounce mason jar. If doubling the recipe, use a pint size or 16 ounce mason jar. I recommend labeling the turkey seasoning with a date and using the seasoning mix within 6 months.
  • To add sweetness to the mix, add brown sugar. Depending on the final recipe that you’ll be making with the turkey seasoning, you may or may not want to add brown sugar for sweetness. I do not include it in the base for this recipe, but if you want to add a sweet element to your final dish, add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar to the rub.
  • To make a spicy turkey seasoning, add 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper to the mix. If you’d like to add just a hint of spice to the mix, just add 1 teaspoon.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten free.
