Turkish Onions With Sumac

Turkish Onions are sliced red onions lightly marinated in lemon juice and olive oil combined with sumac and fresh parsley to make an easy turkish onion salad.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 Red Onions thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon sumac
  • 3 teaspoon finely chopped parsley
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Rinse the sliced red onions under cool running water (optional).
  2. Drain onions and pat dry on paper towel.
  3. Add sliced onions to a bowl along with sumac, chopped parsley, olive oil, lemon juice and salt.
  4. Stir to combine and serve.

Notes

  • Rinsing the sliced onions under cold water takes away some of the "heat" or potency from the onions. This is optional, feel free to use the onions without rinsing if you like the taste of raw onion.
  • You can also leave the onions to soak for up to half an hour in cold water - they will become milder the longer you soak them for. The cold water also makes them more crisp and crunchy.
