Vegan Big Mac Sauce (No Mayo!)
This Vegan Big Mac Sauce replicates the classic burger condiment without mayonnaise by using soaked cashew nuts as the creamy base. Blended with apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, spices, and tangy pickle relish, the sauce delivers a smooth texture and savory tang that complements plant-based burgers and sandwiches.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cashew nuts soaked, raw
- 1/3 cup water (or more as needed)
- 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp. pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp. salt (more/less to taste)
- 3 Tbsp. pickle relish or chopped dill pickle, sweet
Instructions
- Place all ingredients (except pickle relish) in a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. Add a splash more water if needed to thin to desired consistency. Taste and adjust flavors if needed.
- Stir in pickle relish.
Notes
- Soak cashew nuts in water for at least 4-6 hours or use a quick soak method with hot water for 10-15 minutes before blending to achieve a smooth sauce texture.
- Store the prepared sauce in a sealed jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days to maintain freshness.
- Adjust water to thin the sauce to the desired consistency during blending.
