Vegan Chocolate Sauce (only 3 ingredients!)
This vegan chocolate sauce uses just three main ingredients: almond butter, cacao powder, and maple syrup, accented by a pinch of salt and water to achieve the right consistency. The sauce blends into a smooth, silky texture ideal for drizzling over ice cream or desserts. The combination of nutty almond butter and rich cacao powder creates a deep chocolate flavor with natural sweetness from maple syrup. It can be stored chilled and thinned with water if needed before serving again.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons almond butter (I like to use homemade, or the Raw Almond Butter from Trader Joe's)
- 2 tablespoons cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup , to taste
- salt pinch
- 1 to 3 tablespoons water as needed to thin, hot
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the almond butter, cacao powder, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of water. Use a whisk to stir well.
- Taste the mixture, and if you want it sweeter, add 1 more tablespoon of maple syrup. If you don't need the added sweetness, add 1 tablespoon of water instead. Whisk again, until a silky smooth chocolate sauce is created. Add more water if you need to thin it out any further.
- Serve this sauce right away over your favorite ice cream or dessert. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days, but it will thicken when chilled, so you might need to thin it out with more water before serving it again.
